Kalaivani Murugesan, has done her BE and MBA from Loyola School of Business Administration (LIBA), Chennai. She worked in the field of IT for 10 years before she started Aran NGO. She had a global career in the field of IT and has worked in the UK, the USA, and various parts of India. She left her IT Career to start ARAN with the perspective of giving back to society. Her inspiration was meeting children with autism and the struggle of their parents, her heart went out to them and instigated her to leave job abroad and start ARAN. She identified her calling to help these kids and parents. Through her extensive research related to autism and children affected by it, she realized Autism can be overcome with persistent therapy and the hard work of the parents. Her message to those young parents whose children are diagnosed with Autism is, “Say it to yourself, your child may or may not have Autism, but make it a point that neither he nor you will live with it”. She insists on working with that mindset so that people concerned can easily overcome this and lead a stress-free life. The one other agenda that she wishes to promote is stress free teaching. As she calls it “No stress therapy”has proved to be bane to lot of families. Children go through lot of stress undergoing speech therapy as they are forced to say something that they find it difficult. Aran encourages play-way method of speech therapy, that way reduces stress in the process of learning. Children should be provided with a peaceful and healthy environment while learning communication and speech strategies. For past  years she has dedicated her life for this purpose and have achieved greater heights in it.

ABOUT ARAN

Our genesis marked the beginning of a journey fueled by a clear vision and a team dedicated and united to achieve a focused mission. Our foundation is driven by the basic drive to make life easier, more inclusive, and  meaningful for autistic people, special populations, and caregivers, especially mothers. At the very core of Aran Foundation’s ethos lies a commitment to enhancing the lives of those affected by autism, identifying the hardships faced by the children and their caregivers. Overall vision and goals are passionately embraced and crafted sincerely, serving as a beacon guiding every leap taken by the organization. We aim to provide free and quality therapy for the underprivileged and also make other services affordable. Most of our workshops and training sessions are free of cost for all, shedding light on speech, occupational therapy, and mental health. Training for parents includes play therapy, which helps them equip themselves with sufficient knowledge and how to stimulate speech naturally and spend stress-free, quality time with their children at home. Generating a team of adult volunteers who will help the training process, like quality interaction, play methods, and ideas for regular playtime, and help parents adapt the needed skills. What sets us apart is creating a group of child volunteers who are of similar age to the kids in the spectrum, which can greatly facilitate the learning process to address the challenge of finding friends with typical development. We create awareness using video demonstrations of play methods based on parents experiences covering issues faced while raising a child in the spectrum, offering free parent counselling for those under stress, and raising awareness on different key aspects of speech therapies and home programs on speech therapy.
